AuXchange’s mission is to empower women and girls one gold piece at a time. Our objective is to highlight the power of gold to make a real difference in how women think and feel about themselves with the knowledge that their jewelry purchases are making a difference in advancing girls’ education in places where they lack such access.

For Indian women, ownership of gold is a revered cultural tradition. It is at the core of every important milestone, every birth, every celebration. Mothers begin collecting gold jewelry as soon as a child comes into the family. With time, I realized that for a vast majority of these women collecting gold jewelry was not merely a frivolous hobby, but their way of asserting financial control and expressing their opinions.

My mother, who only has a 3rd Grade education, used it as a tool for self-empowerment. She scrimped and saved money from the household budget to buy pieces of gold jewelry, which were hers to do with as she pleased. A collection of gold jewelry in the hands of my mother represented independent wealth to be used by her, whether it was as collateral for land, to recycle or upcycle for a different piece of jewelry or to gift it to her children or other family members.  Gold jewelry was, and continues to be an important source of empowerment, giving women greater control over their financial destinies. AuXchange celebrates a woman’s ability to express herself - in spoken or unspoken words - actively continuing the tradition of self-empowerment through ownership of fine jewelry.

AuXchange is also on a mission to empower and educate girls. The pursuit of education led me to the United States at the tender age of 17 with little money and big dreams. Education has been the foundation to my path to intellectual and financial independence . . . and a sense of true liberation. I wish that for every girl and woman which is why AuXchange is committed to help enhance girls’ access to education, especially in those areas of the world where going to school is a daily challenge. AuXchange partners with reputable organizations dedicated to the mission of educating girls to set them on the path of intellectual and financial liberation by donating 10% of every sale to the cause of girls’ education.

In 2020, AuXchange partnered with Campaign for Female Education (CamFed) a sub-saharan organization that catalyzes the power of the most vulnerable girls and young women to create the future they imagine for themselves, for their communities, and for Africa. In 2021, AuXchange has partnered with Malala Fund, another organization that is working for a world where every girl can learn and lead.
