Arabian Nights Cuff | AX-MENA
Named after the collection of folk tales "Arabian Nights" or "The Thousand and One Nights," this cuff bracelet has a multitude of diamonds strewn like stars in the night sky. Arabian Nights is a collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian folk tales. It begins with King Shahryar, who after discovering that his wife had regularly been unfaithful to him while he way away, kills her and hatches a misogynistic plan to marry and kill a new wife each day until no more suitable women can be found. His advisor's clever daughter Scheherazade offers to marry the king and each evening she tells a story, leaving it incomplete and promising to finish it the following night. The stories are so entertaining, and the king so eager to hear the end, that he puts off her execution for 1001 nights until he finally abandons his plan.
The Arabian Nights stories have inspired movies, music and now jewelry.
The night sky and the stars are a significant theme in the Arabian nights stories and this cuff is my interpretation of these beautiful stories. Sprawled in a random pattern to resemble stars in the night sky, my hope is that as the wearer of this cuff recalls the intellect of Scheherazade and the beauty of the night stars, much like the legendary tales themselves.
