The Arabic language, a member of the family of Semitic languages, originated in the Arabian Peninsula and was first spoken by nomadic tribes. It is the language of the Holy Quran. In fact, the word Arabic means “nomadic.”  This is how “Mom” is written in Arabic and it is pronounced “Umm.” Arabic was widely spoken in the United Arab Emirates where AuXchange founder Azra Mehdi spend much of her childhood holidays.

The decision to use a hexagon pendant flowed naturally for this necklace since geometry is highly symbolic in Islamic culture with the hexagon being one of the earliest occurring geometric forms used in Islamic architecture.
