AZRA MEHDI JEWELRY Sourcing Commitment

All the materials used in Azra Mehdi Jewelry - gold and gemstones - are sustainably and ethically sourced to minimize the potential detrimental impact of mining on the Earth. The gold used in our jewelry is sourced from ethical refiners who are part of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC)  and follow their strict code of ethical refining or recycled from the older pieces of jewelry when available.

Because the diamonds we use are exclusively of natural origin and untreated, we hold ourselves to a higher standard and obtain written guarantees from the supplier of these diamonds of their natural origin.  The diamonds used in all of our jewelry pieces are guaranteed "conflict-free" and comply with the SoW guidelines of the World Diamond Council.  The loose diamonds and/or items containing diamonds are always purchased from legitimate sources that strictly adhere to the Kimberley Process Certification and are not involved in funding of conflict diamonds and in compliance with United Nations resolutions.

The rubies or jadeite used in our jewelry is certified per the Tom Lantos Block Burmese JADE Act of 2008 and are subject to a system of verifiable controls from mine to place of exportation or final finishing which demonstrates that such gemstones were not mined in or extracted from Burma (Myanmar).

For other gemstones like emeralds and sapphires, we working with thoroughly vetted suppliers, we source our ethical emeralds and sapphires from small-scale, artisanal miners and collectives, and family-owned mines all around the world that are committed to operating in an environmentally responsible way that benefits workers and surrounding communities.

Finally, respecting the rights of the current ongoing conflict in the Ukraine, we certify that our diamonds and other gemstones are not mined, extracted, produced, or manufactured wholly or in part in the Russian Federation.
